Recommendations to draft Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Guidelines [D6.2]

This document proposes the Agrowise definition of the general concept of IPM, and of each IPM principle. It introduces the concept of active prophylaxis to highlight the preventive value of agronomic practices and their contribution to crop protection. The project demonstrates that IPM implementation is most effective when prevention, monitoring, and intervention are treated as interconnected processes supported by a shared taxonomy linking the eight IPM principles to agricultural actions.

Through this approach, Agrowise provides a harmonised yet flexible framework for defining guidelines that reduce pesticide dependency while maintaining crop productivity. The Final IPM Guidelines and their associated Action Sheets offer Member States, advisory services, and farmers a practical tool to operationalise IPM within national and regional contexts, ensuring that sustainable pest management becomes an integral part of everyday agricultural decision-making.
